Alyshia Bensch – Studio Marlo
‘Studio Marlo’ is Alyshia’s creative hub encompassing her multidisciplinary visual arts and illustration practice.
After beginning her career in the city as a designer and creative assistant, the call to return to her regional roots and to be closer to her family and farming partner was strong. At the end of 2014 , she took the leap, moving back to the part of Western Victoria that she loves, to pursue her creative goals and begin to build Studio Marlo with the support of family, friends and husband. Trial and error and endless curiosity has seen her build her own diverse and multifaceted approach to making art in the place she considers ‘home’.
Alyshia draws inspiration from many sources, but most prominently from narrative and the natural world. Her home studio on the farm is full of wild and whimsical characters with their own personalities and stories to tell, as well as work inspired by the human connection to the beauty and wonder of nature.
I feel very lucky to be able to share some of the magic of the landscape I am surrounded by daily, through my work.” ~ Alyshia Bensch
Her recent studies in Art Therapy enhanced her learning about using creative practice as a way to quietly contemplate and be mindful of thoughts, feelings and environment. Her love for the natural world and it’s calming effects, and the joy in the smallest of details are also things she aims to share in her art.
